From Georgia to Florida: How Boba Tea and Balcony Views Made My Dream Move Unforgettable

Hey Girls!

Three years ago, I finally made the move that had been on my mind for five long years. Leaving Georgia behind, I set my sights on Florida—a place I’d always dreamed of living. The journey wasn’t exactly a smooth one, but it was filled with little surprises and delightful discoveries that made it all worthwhile.

Back in Georgia, my kids and I developed a love for Boba Tea, a passion they actually introduced me to. But, as luck would have it, the nearest Boba place wasn’t exactly around the corner. We didn’t indulge often, and when we did, DoorDash or Uber Eats were reserved for special occasions.

When it came time to move, I was self-employed, having just started my journey as a Virtual Assistant the year before. Finding an apartment that would accept my income from contracts proved challenging. I’d just landed a few solid contracts, but apartment hunting was still an adventure. After a few hits and misses, I settled on a brand-new apartment complex still under construction. I was over the moon about picking my exact unit, complete with the perfect view. Being the first to live in a new place? Beyond fantabulous!

But, as life would have it, the construction got delayed, pushing my move-in date back by two months—way too long for the commitments I had. So, I found another place, torn between two options: the one I have now and a smaller apartment I’d actually toured on a prior trip to Florida. The smaller one was charming, but being on the first floor was a dealbreaker for me. I had to be up high, soaking in the best views possible.

I took a leap of faith, trusting my sister’s advice: “The lease is only for a year; if you don’t like it, you can always move.” And wouldn’t you know it? I fell head over heels for my place. My view overlooks a serene pond, home to ducks, cranes, turtles (still no gators, thankfully), and it brings me endless joy. Sitting on my balcony, watching the ducks do their duck things, is pure bliss. Just the other day, I spotted a mama duck with her ducklings—such a heartwarming sight.

Bought a brand new car in Georgia, paid in full, and move to Florida that same day!

But one of the absolute best things about my new home, beyond the wildlife and the views, is…

…wait for it…

There’s a Boba Tea spot right across the street. Can you believe my luck?!

This isn’t just any Boba Tea place; it’s a gem with chic gold and white decor and an inviting, upscale vibe. My go-to order? Brown Sugar Boba with alternative milk, Shrimp Bao, and a couple of macaroons to top it off. It’s my little slice of heaven.

Even though I’m back to working a 9-5, I have big dreams of turning my writing into a full-time gig. I can already picture myself spending my days at that Boba Tea spot, typing away while my kid is at school.

But here’s the thing—I’m not waiting for my writing to take off to live that dream. I believe that to have what you want, you have to become the person who has it. That’s how desires turn into reality—by practicing being who you’re ready to become.

So, next weekend (pictures to come), you’ll find me at the Boba Tea place, living my best unscripted life.
