Hey friends,

I want to share something real with you today because I think it’s something we all experience, even when we don’t talk about it. There comes a point on this journey to manifesting your desires, stepping into the life you want, and becoming the person you dream of being, when things get tough. I’m not just talking about a little challenge here or there—I mean, moments where you feel so tired and overwhelmed that you want to break down and cry. And you know what? Sometimes you do cry.

That’s exactly where I found myself not too long ago. I had been working so hard to create this life of beauty, calm, and peace—both inside my home and within myself. But there I was, feeling drained, frustrated, and, honestly, a little sad. If I was so excited about all these amazing things I was creating, why was I feeling this way?

The answer, as it often is, lay in my thoughts. If you’ve followed me for a while, you know I’m all about understanding how our beliefs shape our experiences. And at the core of every belief is a thought that we keep thinking over and over until it becomes our truth. These beliefs end up forming the foundation from which we make all our decisions.

Here’s what I realized in my moment of struggle: it wasn’t the external situation making me feel overwhelmed—it was my thoughts about the situation. I kept telling myself I was tired of my 9-to-5, I didn’t like other people controlling my time, I wasn’t where I wanted to be financially, and I kept piling on these negative thoughts. It’s no wonder I felt so exhausted!

But here’s the thing: just because I had a meltdown didn’t mean everything was going wrong. We all hit moments where we feel like crying on the living room floor, and that’s okay. I had to remind myself that this was just part of the process. Growth isn’t always pretty. It’s not all sunshine and rainbows, and it’s definitely not always easy. Sometimes, it’s crying your eyes out after a long day and feeling like you’re stuck. But it’s also in these moments that we get the chance to look at what’s going on inside our minds.

The truth is, we can get so caught up in wanting more—more time, more control, more freedom—that we lose sight of what’s actually happening in the present moment. When we focus too much on what we don’t want, it can overwhelm the desires we’re trying to create. And the funny thing? Just a few days before my breakdown, I was journaling about how much I wanted to practice loving where I am, right now, in this very moment. Isn’t that ironic?

Here’s the lesson I’m taking away from all this: It’s not about having it all together 100% of the time. It’s about recognizing when you’re in those tough moments and being gentle with yourself. It’s about realizing that just because you had a rough day or a rough week, that doesn’t erase all the progress you’ve made.

And it’s also about letting yourself feel the feels. If you need to cry, cry. If you need to vent, vent. But don’t make it mean that your entire journey is a failure. You’re allowed to have ups and downs. And remember, every single thing that happens, happens for a reason. How do I know? Because it happened. That’s it. It was meant to be a part of your journey.

So, if you’re feeling tired, overwhelmed, or like you’re swimming in that river of misery (shout out to Brooke Castillo for that phrase), take a deep breath. Look at where you are. Look at what you’ve already created. And then remind yourself: this moment is just a part of the bigger picture. It doesn’t define you. It’s simply here to help you grow.

I hope sharing this helps you as much as it helped me to say it out loud. We’re all in this together, and you’re not alone in your journey. Let’s keep reminding ourselves that every moment, even the tough ones, are part of the unscripted life we’re creating.

Here’s to living a life unscripted.

Journal Prompts for Reflection:

  1. What thoughts have been circling in your mind lately, and how are they influencing your emotions?

  2. Can you pinpoint a recent moment of frustration or sadness? What were the thoughts that triggered those feelings?

  3. How can you practice loving where you are right now, even if it's not where you ultimately want to be?

  4. What are three things you’ve already created in your life that bring you joy or pride?

  5. How can you be gentler with yourself the next time you feel overwhelmed?

Affirmations to Support You:

  • "I am allowed to have tough days and still make progress."

  • "This moment is a stepping stone in my growth, not a setback."

  • "I am in control of how I respond to my thoughts and feelings."

  • "It’s okay to rest. My journey is unfolding exactly as it should."

  • "I trust that even in the hard moments, I am moving toward the life I desire."
