When the Waiting Gets Hard: How to Stay Aligned with Your Desires When They Haven’t Manifested Yet
Hey Friends,
In this manifesto, we explore the delicate art of waiting, that space between desiring something with all your heart and actually seeing it materialize. If you’re anything like me, there’s a special kind of discomfort that comes with being in that in-between space. It’s frustrating, often overwhelming, and it can feel like the universe is toying with your patience. But what I’ve learned, and what I’m still learning every day, is that there’s profound magic in that waiting period. It’s where we can grow, shift, and align ourselves with the very things we desire.
This post is about how to stay grounded in that space when it feels like your dream just isn’t happening yet. And trust me, I’ve been there more times than I can count, sitting in the void, asking, “Why not now? Why isn’t it happening?”
The Frustration of "Not Yet"
A month ago, I found myself in a particularly challenging space. I had set some big, soul-aligned intentions. I had visualized them, journaled about them, spoke affirmations into the universe. I was ready for my manifestation to show up. And yet, weeks passed. Then, more weeks. And there was no sign of anything shifting. Instead of results, I got…silence.
At first, I felt confused. Then came the frustration. I questioned myself: Was I doing something wrong? Was I missing a key step? Why wasn’t it happening? I’m sure you’ve been there too—sitting in that gap between what you want and what you currently have.
When the frustration hit its peak, I knew I needed to take a step back. Manifesting from a place of frustration and impatience is like swimming against the current. It’s exhausting and counterproductive. So, I did what I always do when I’m feeling out of alignment—I journaled. And that’s when it hit me. I was focusing so much on what wasn’t happening, on the absence of what I wanted, that I was blocking my own energy.
The Power of Energy Shifts
Here’s what I came to realize: when we are in a constant state of wanting and longing, we’re often projecting an energy of lack. Even if we’re saying all the right things or doing all the right steps, our energy may be sending a message of “I don’t have this yet” out into the universe. And as we know, like attracts like. So what I was really attracting was more of that same energy—more waiting, more absence.
I knew I had to shift. Instead of constantly focusing on why something wasn’t happening, I started asking myself a different question: “How would I feel if it had already happened?”
What would my energy be like if the desire had already manifested? How would I be moving through my days? I wouldn’t be anxious or frustrated—that’s for sure. I would be calm, grounded, trusting, and in pleasure. So, I decided to start embodying that energy.
I got intentional about feeling those emotions daily. I started acting as if everything I wanted was already on its way. That shift felt subtle, but it was powerful. My energy lightened. I felt less anxious and more peaceful. And wouldn’t you know it? Soon after that shift, little signs started showing up—things were finally moving in the direction I had been waiting for.
The Power of Trust and Surrender
What I learned through this experience is that the waiting period is often a time of necessary growth. Sometimes the universe delays our desires because it’s working behind the scenes, rearranging things in ways we can’t see or comprehend. Other times, it’s because we’re not quite ready for what we’re asking for, even if we think we are.
In my case, I realized that part of my delay was tied to my own impatience. I was so focused on the outcome that I had forgotten to enjoy the journey. I had forgotten to trust the process and, more importantly, to trust myself.
Here’s a little secret I’ve learned about manifesting: the universe will often give you what you want when you don’t need it. When you can embody the energy of peace and contentment without having the thing you’re asking for, that’s when you become a magnet for it.
It’s almost like the universe is waiting for you to say, “I’m good either way.” Not from a place of giving up, but from a place of deep trust. Trust that what’s meant for you will never miss you. Trust that everything you’re asking for is already on its way, and that it will arrive in divine timing.
Journal Prompts for Alignment and Trust
When I find myself spiraling into impatience or doubt, I turn to my journal to help me realign my energy. If you’re currently in the waiting phase and feeling frustrated, here are some journal prompts to help you shift your focus and bring peace back into your manifesting process:
How would I feel if my desire had already manifested? What emotions and energy would I embody?
What is the universe trying to teach me during this waiting period?
How can I release control and trust that what I’m asking for is on its way?
In what ways can I find peace and pleasure in the present moment, rather than focusing on what’s missing?
What small steps can I take to embody the energy of having my desires fulfilled?
Affirmations for Patience and Trust
Words carry energy, and affirmations are a powerful way to shift our mindset and vibration. Here are a few affirmations that have helped me when I’ve found myself waiting for something to manifest:
I trust that everything is unfolding for my highest good.
My desires are already on their way to me.
I release all impatience and embrace divine timing.
I am at peace, knowing that what’s meant for me will never miss me.
I am aligned with the energy of my desires and trust the process fully.
Finding Pleasure in the Present
One of the most transformative things I did during that waiting period was focusing on bringing more pleasure and peace into my day-to-day life. When we get too caught up in our desires and goals, it’s easy to forget that we can find joy in the present moment. Even when we’re waiting for something big to happen, there’s still so much to appreciate and savor.
So, I started incorporating small rituals into my daily routine—things that made me feel connected to my feminine energy and brought me back to the present moment. A hot cup of tea in the morning, a mindful walk, lighting candles at night, journaling with intention. These little acts of self-care helped me shift my focus away from what wasn’t happening and back to what was.
And when we can find peace, pleasure, and presence in the now, we naturally become more magnetic to the things we want.
If you’re in that uncomfortable waiting period right now, I want to remind you that it’s okay to feel frustrated. It’s okay to feel impatient. But don’t let those feelings define you or your journey. Instead, see this time as an opportunity to align, to grow, and to trust.
The universe has a way of bringing us exactly what we need, exactly when we need it. Sometimes the delay is the lesson. Sometimes the waiting is where the magic happens.
Live pleasurably.
