Hey Friend!
In today’s manifesto, we’re diving into a concept you’ve probably heard dismissed by coaches everywhere: the idea of creating a business to Netflix and chill. Most people say, “We didn’t start businesses to Netflix and chill!” Well, guess what? I did.
What’s wild is I didn’t even realize it at first. Like many of you, I started my business caught up in what everyone else was doing and saying. My Instagram feed was a cacophony of strategies, hustle tips, and stories about 12-hour workdays. It was easy to get swept up in thinking that’s what success had to look like.
But something in me wasn’t adding up.
Cutting Through the Noise to Hear Your Own Voice
Have you ever noticed how easy it is to lose your own voice when you’re surrounded by everyone else’s opinions? There’s that quote—I’m paraphrasing here—that says you’re the sum of the five people you spend the most time with. That’s true, but I’d argue it’s also about the people (or content) you listen to when building your dream.
When I first started, I followed every coach, joined every webinar, and implemented every “must-do” tactic they swore by. I didn’t pause to ask: Do I even want this kind of life? Spoiler alert: I didn’t. I wanted soft mornings, creative days, and evenings spent curled up with a good series and a mocktail.
The hardest part of this realization? Learning how to reroot into my own natural rhythms and figure out what I wanted.
Building Your Business Is Like Being a Kid Again
Starting a business feels a lot like being a toddler trying to figure out the world. You don’t know what to do, so you look to others for guidance. You eat up their advice, copy their blueprints, and follow their steps without question.
And that’s okay—at first. You’re learning.
But just like kids grow up and start to think for themselves, you have to grow up in your business. That means asking hard questions like:
What do I really want my life to look like?
Who am I outside of what everyone else says I should be?
What kind of business will bring me joy, not just revenue?
For me, the answer was clear: I wanted a Netflix-and-chill business.

The Truth About “Doing All the Things”
A lot of people say, “I’ve done everything, and I’m still not successful!” I have a little tough love for those folks: Have you really done everything, or did you just dip your toe in the water?
When I decided I wanted a Netflix-and-chill business, I had to get honest about what that meant for me. Was I working in ways that aligned with the ease and flow I craved? Or was I stuck in tactics that felt like hustle in a shiny disguise?
Turns out, I was doing a lot of unnecessary “stuff.” When I sat down to plan my 2025 goals, I didn’t even crack open the fancy notebook I’d bought. Instead, I woke up, rolled over, opened the Notes app on my phone at 5 a.m. and wrote out what mattered:
What I wanted to focus on.
What I needed to let go of.
How I could simplify my life and business.
That’s it. No fluff, no overwhelm—just clarity.
The Power of Choosing Your People
Here’s the thing about building a life and business that’s true to you: not everyone will get it. And that’s okay.
Some people in your life might try to “help” you with their logical suggestions or fears disguised as concern. They mean well, but their vision isn’t yours.
The key is finding people who do get it—your Netflix-and-chill tribe. These are the people who cheer you on, hold space for your big dreams, and remind you that what you want is valid and possible.
Sometimes, it’s not about cutting people out but about limiting what you share. Reserve your excitement and dreams for those who can support you fully, and let the others love you in ways they’re capable of.
A Netflix-and-Chill Business Isn’t Lazy—It’s Revolutionary
Building a business rooted in ease, pleasure, and flow isn’t lazy; it’s revolutionary. It requires unlearning so much of what we’ve been taught about hustle and success.
For me, it meant letting go of beliefs that told me I couldn’t have what I wanted. It meant rewiring my mindset to trust that what I desire is possible. And it meant designing a business that reflects the life I want—not the one someone else thinks I should want.
